Rewound Bobbins// Vintage Finds

Recently I have been fortunate to find some really lovely vintage treasures :) I love thrift store hunting and antique swap meet searching for unique and pretty items. I am usually drawn to 1950's era dresses and luggage but lately I find my self gravitating towards antique radios! I want to convert one to play my ipod if that is even possible but if not they are still beautiful. When I went up to San Luis Obispo the other week my best friend gave me an old 1950's record player that although it had seen better days, it was lovely. I also found this darling porcelain jar at a local thrift store and a cute dress from the Long Beach antique swap meet. I hope you enjoy my finds!

Well off to Yosemite!!! See you in a few :)

Come brothers let's go down....down to the river to pray

For my mom's mother's day present my brother and I got her tickets to go see Alison Krauss at the Greek theater...and last night was the concert. I tell ya the Greek theater is terrible to park at but the venue is amazing! You get to sit under the stars and in the trees and watch your favorite band! Alison Krauss and Union Station were enchanting and Alison is actually quite funny :) What I love about their music is that is is truly Americana and I love the things they sing about...not like some of the music out there today that is all about money and girls and nasty things. Nonetheless, my mom and I had such a lovely time with our wine and blanket and amazing music.....oh and this is what I wore :)

Outfit Details:
Jacket- Levi's
Dress- Modcloth
Tights- Target
Boots- Old Tony Lamas
Purse- Urban Outfitters
Necklace- Red Apparel (But also on Modcloth :))

*I wanted to take pictures at the concert but the theater wouldn't let us :(

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend...I am going to Yosemite so see you all in a few days!

Style Crush.....June Carter Cash

I just love the pretty dresses June Carter Cash's character wears in Walk the Line. Her style is classic yet country which I love. I love pairing my 1950's vintage dresses with cowboy boots to make it a little more country :) I love the movie and the music and June Carter!

DiY Monday

I am in love with these lovely little diy projects that I stumbled upon the other day....I can not wait to make them! The first one is special to me because I use to have (or maybe still do somewhere in storage) the cutest little minnie mouse bed tent that I would sleep in as a little girl. My brother had a dinosaur one :) and this diy project is just too perfect...I don't have kids but I really want to make one!

Lovely DiY from Grosgrain blog

Second is a pretty little DiY candle holder set. I love old radiator covers so for me this is so pretty....I was also thinking you could probably use old ceiling tin tiles such as the ones in last picture in the same fashion as this DiY. You could make vases or large candle holders depending on how big your candle is and if you recycle old materials it is a green project too!.

Hope this gets your creative juices flowing!

Classic Crush

I have been hunting for the perfect retro inspired bathing suit for a while now and I think I have finally narrowed it down to one. Although I am use to wearing two piece suits I am just so in love with this one that I have to go for it. As I was looking for my perfect new suit I naturally asked my friends for their opinions and I was not surprised by the results. When I asked my male friends what they thought of the retro looking suits they were not at all thrilled...and I am not surprised because one they are use to girls in itty bitty bathing suits and also I think they think the more skin showing is sexier. I however think that there is something much sexier about  the suits of the past. They really show off a woman's shape and are leave something to the imagination. Well maybe this is the 10 pounds or so that I have gained talking but I am in love with the retro 50's inspired bathing suits that I have been seeing. What do you guys think? I would really like to know.

Here are a few that I found...I am getting the second one in blue

Weekend Recap

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial day weekend! I know I did! I had so many amazing adventures and spent the weekend with great friends. The weekend started with a trip to the Getty...well it was suppose to be a trip to the Museum of Tolerance first but I was a silly goose and did not make a reservation so they were sold out :( but the Getty was stunning and I can't wait to go back and have a huge picnic there. Later that night I went to a wonderful Spanish restaurant called Sevillas...although I have never been to Spain I think it would be like the restaurant. The next night I went to The Sky Room which is the most amazing restaurant/bar/dance hall that you could ever see. It has a retro 30's vibe...dancers there even come in 1930's attire...so cute!  Lastly, the weekend ended with a trip to the Kern river....a trip that I make every year and never get tired of. I hope your weekend was just as amazing as mine!

I love these trees at the Getty
