Down on the Ranch.......

Last weekend I took a trip to the Camarillo Ranch House for the first time and I was blown away! The Victorian house built in 1892 was stunning and the big red barn was so darn cute! (I have a weakness for big red barns) The Camarillo Ranch House was also putting on a classic car show and brew fest which was so much fun. I love classic cars...I have a 1966 chevelle which my dad and I fixed up starting when I was 13. I love that car to pieces and I love looking at all the hard work other classic car owners have put into their cars. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the event...the food was great and the MUSIC was so enchanting. I discovered a new band when I was there..The Shoemaker Brothers....I loved them right away because they played my two favorite instruments, the cello and the violin! I had to buy there cd :) Everything about the day was perfect, especially all the history I learned about Camarillo and the special Ranch House.

I can't wait for my friend Juliet's Halloween Tea party this Saturday!! Have a good Wednesday everyone!

I'm a working GIrl!!

Hello! well I am officially a working girl again :) I now work for Pacific ambulance as an EMT and I couldn't be more excited. Its only my first week of training but I already love it. Anyhoo....this past week my uncle from Tennessee came to visit me and although he was not feeling well we had a good time. We took him to Laughlin to gamble and even though I do not gamble I am glad he had fun. I also stumbled upon a great find at my Grandpa's house the other day. As I was looking out the window in his kitchen I saw an old 1950's swivel desk chair which I remember him using in his garage when we made things out of  wood (we use to make mini canoes and dolls and even doll beds!). So I saw the chair and couldn't resist the idea of fixing it up so I asked my Grandpa and he said I could have it. THAT is when the adventure started! The chair which had been sitting out in the yard had spiders all over it so I took it into the front yard to wash it off. Well.....I THOUGHT I had gotten all of the spiders off but as I went to take the chair out of my mother's car I almost touched a HUGE black spider (AND I am scared of spiders) so I screamed...naturally :) and the darn thing scurried into my mom's car. SO now my mom is hysterical because she doesn't want to drive with the spider in her car.....I am sooooo sorry mom. Here is a mini chronicle of my struggles with the chair...a finished product post to follow.

And when I opened up the seat....I found three more spiders....let the spider count end at 6..I hope

A whirlwind of Adventures

Hello! SO many things have been going on lately...I am happy to say that I finally got all of the paper work I needed for my interview tomorrow...Yikes!!!! I HAVE AN INTERVIEW tomorrow!!! I hope all goes well. I am so excited to start working as an EMT :)  Recently I have gone on many fun adventures as well...because after all you have to work hard but play harder :) I went to the Long Beach Aquarium the other day with my family and my silly grandpa. He was so grumpy and didn't want to go but I think he ended up having the best time out of all of us! hehe. It was so nice because I haven't gone to an aquarium since I was really little. My favorite part was the sharks (and out of respect for my cousin that is mortally afraid of sharks and lets face it all sea creatures...I will not be posting any of the sea life. Sorry guys but I did already trick her into looking at the picture of the giant shark that I took) We ended the day at the aquarium with a wonderful tortilla soup dinner at Tequila Jacks in Shoreline village, one of our favorite places. This weekend I also got my camping fix when my family and I camped at Moro Canyon campground near Crystal Cove. SO...without further ado.....here are the pictures!!!

Our entertainment...no literally he dances too!

P.s. I CAN'T wait until autumn....It is my favorite season and I can't wait to make beautiful wreaths and bake caramel apple muffins (recipe to follow) and get ready for Halloween!!

So I have an interview coming up with an ambulance company...(if you didn't know already I just got my EMT license) and I am currently running around like a mad woman trying to get all the forms I need and things signed off! OH and I have to get certified to drive the ambulance  so that is a major thing I have to do. I have been spending quite a lot of time at the good old dmv :) but it is worth it. I can't wait to start working! Hope you are all having a good day even though the weather is kinda gloomy :(

B is for Baking!

I recently stumbled upon the most amazing cake recipe...I can only describe it as part pound cake and part chocolate chip cookie :) and it is delicious! I wanted to share the recipe with you so you can try it too.

Ingredients:

-Trader Joe's vanilla cake and baking mix (16 oz.)
-Sm. pkg. instant vanilla pudding mix
-3 eggs
-1 cup water
-1/2 cup melted butter
-1/2 cup sour cream
-10 oz. semi sweet chocolate chips

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, beat together all ingredients except chocolate chips for 3 minutes. Add chocolate chips (either stir them in for a cookie effect or leave them on the top of the mix and let them sink into the batter a little) and pour into a greased bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until a knife inserted into the cake comes out clean. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

All the Ingredients

I had so much fun making this cake...I even got to use my new polka dot mixing bowls! Hope you get to enjoy this classic yet tasty treat.

Ps. Let me know if you guys find any great new recipes...I am always looking for new ones :)

Out of the Cave!!!

I have to apologize for being such a neglectful blogger this past month....I have been in a cave studying for my EMT certification. It was a accelerated, accelerated class which had me in class for 6 hours a day and also studying as well as tutoring a fellow classmate. I didn't have much time to do anything else other than the class so I didn't have much to blog about lately. SO BIG APOLOGY from me. I am now back to blogging! I am taking my certification test tomorrow but I wanted to take a quick study break and do a post :) Recently after coming out of the EMT cave I have had the chance to see many wonderful friends again and I am so thankful that my good friend Juliet invited me to downtown Long Beach to stop by the Long Beach Free Store where you can bring in items to donate and also take any items that you may need.....for free! It was such a wonderful experience with such a great community feeling. There was live music by a wonderful band called Shiba Sings and also the every 2nd Saturday street fair was happening as well. I found the most beautiful scent locket there which just happened to match my outfit :)

Mine was Learn to Tango :)

I got the most amazing hand stitched artwork from the free store that I am going to get re-framed

This weekend I also celebrated my Dad's birthday with my family. We went to pyramid lake on my brothers boat....which broke down :(....but we ended up having an amazing time anyways. We ended up going to Fillmore which is a small little town near Ventura where we enjoyed the train museum there. I also dragged my Mom and Dad to every little antique shop in town...I love small towns! Later that night we checked into the Glen Tavern Inn which is a magical craftsman hotel that is rumored to be haunted!! It was amazing to stay there and the food was great too. My family and I had a lovely weekend and I hope you all did too.
